The Library Volunteer Program is a different organization, but members of the Friends of the Library have provided about 40% of all library volunteer hours over the past several years. Interested? Applications are available at the circulation desk.
In addition, there are a number of ways to serve the Friends organization. Here are the most important:
Contacting current sustaining members and inviting them to renew their memberships.
Contacting local businesses and soliciting sustaining memberships. (See the "Sustaining Membership Information" page under the "Contact Us" menu at the top of this page.)
Writing grant applications for funds from businesses and civic organizations.
Soliciting grants and donations from civic organizations of which you are a member.
Compiling, writing, and editing a quarterly newsletter to be sent to the membership and others using the Friends email account.
Writing "thank you" letters acknowledging donations to purchase books.
Printing bookplates acknowledging donors.
Interested? Go to the “contact us” menu and send an email with your name, email address, and (in the comment block) an idea of what you’d like to do. You will be contacted within a few days.
